Best Canadian Film I've seen in ages: C.R.A.Z.Y.

Jean Marc Vallee has directed an absolutely stunning movie and if you are in Vancouver this week, you can see it at either 855 Granville (The old Granville 7, now the Empire Granville Cinemas) or at the 5th Avenue Cinemas.

go here for all the nitty gritty: and then enter C.R.A.Z.Y. in the search button, you'll find a complete synopsis and even trivia.

The film chronicles the young life of Zac and his brothers, and his mom and dad, in suburban, religious, Quebec through the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It is a beautiful coming of age and coming out tale, and I haven't seen a movie that details familial angst so poignantly ever, I don't think. It's funny, at times the whole theatre was nearly shaking with the sustained laughter. But sometimes, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. This movie has Oscar buzz about it already and I can really see why.

In french with English subtitles.
